Privacy policy
Last updated: 16 September 2026
This policy applies to Khusan’s Speaking App (the “Application”), which gives learners the current IELTS Speaking questions and the tools to practise them. It sets out what the Application does and does not collect, and why.
1. Privacy first
The Application is built so that it never needs to know who you are.
- No registration. You are never asked to create an account or to give a name, email address or phone number.
- No personal identity data. We do not collect, store or sell information that identifies you as a person, and we do not sell any data to anyone.
- Anonymous sign-in. The app signs in to our backend anonymously so it can read content securely. That identifier belongs to the installation, not to you, and it goes away when the app is removed.
2. Microphone and voice recordings
The Application can record your voice so you can hear yourself practise.
- Local storage only. Every recording is written to the app's own storage on your device.
- No uploads. Recordings are never transmitted to our servers or shared with anyone, and they are never used for analytics or for training anything.
- Your control. You can play back and delete any recording inside the app, and uninstalling the app deletes all of them.
- One purpose. The microphone is used for nothing except recording and playing back your own practice.
3. Permissions
- Internet — to download the latest questions, sample answers and audio.
- Microphone — only for the practice recording feature, and only while you are recording.
- Storage — to keep your recordings and downloaded content on the device.
- Notifications — optional, and only to tell you when new questions or features arrive.
4. What we do collect
To keep the app working and to see which parts of it people actually use, we collect a small amount of anonymous information that does not identify you:
- Usage analytics through Google Analytics for Firebase — which screens are opened and which features are used, along with device type, operating system version, app version and an approximate country taken from your device settings.
- A push notification token, if you allow notifications, so that a message can reach your device.
- Anonymous counts of how many devices received or opened a notification.
5. What we never collect
- Your name, email address, phone number or contacts.
- Your voice recordings.
- Your precise location.
- Anything that would let us, or anyone else, identify you personally.
6. Services we rely on
A small number of infrastructure providers deliver the service described above. They process data only for that purpose:
- Google Firebase — anonymous authentication, the content database, push notifications, analytics and abuse protection (App Check and Play Integrity).
- Cloudflare R2 — hosting for the question bank, the sample answers and the audio files.
- Apple App Store and Google Play — distribution of the app itself, each under its own privacy policy.
7. Children's privacy
The Application collects no personal data from anyone, which makes it suitable for users of all ages, including children. All practice data stays on the device.
8. Your choices
- Turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
- Clear downloaded content and delete recordings from the Storage section of the app's settings.
- Uninstall the app to remove everything it has stored on your device.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version appears on this page with a new date at the top. Anything significant is announced on the updates page as well.
